Once Found Everywhere,
Now Nowhere

An Ecosystem-Wide Crisis

Sparrows could be once found everywhere and are hard to spot now. The answer lies in a mix of factors, all linked to the rapid transformation of both cities and farms. House sparrows may be highly adaptable, but that does not guarantee they can thrive with all changes that humans introduce to their environment.

Since sparrows share their habitat with us, their decline is a warning sign of environmental issues that affect us too. Protecting them isn’t just about saving a species—it’s about preserving a balanced ecosystem for future generations

But what can we do?

Provide Nesting Spaces

Sparrow easily adapts to man-made nests and this can lead to long-term conservation of the bird

Offer Food and Water

Place grains like millet, rice, wheat and fresh water in shaded areas or in the nests directly

Plant Native Trees

Trees provide natural nesting sites for sparrows and create a healthier habitat for the birds

Avoid Pesticides

Use organic farming methods and encourage kitchen gardening with pesticide-free plants

Spread Awareness

Organize school and community events to educate people about sparrow protection and so much more!

Science Meets Nature: Our Organic
Sparrow Bamboo Nest

To drive innovation in sparrow conservation, we have partnered with experts from IIT Guwahati to develop a scientifically engineered birdhouse designed for optimal sparrow habitation.

This research-backed design integrates advanced insights into bird behavior and ecology, ensuring a safe and comfortable shelter for sparrows. The birdhouse is designed with two separate spaces, so two sparrows can nest safely without disturbance. It also includes a built-in feeder that provides a steady supply of grains and water, making it easier for sparrows to find food and stay healthy.

Engineered by Experts

Engineered by Prof. A.K. Das, a design engineer from IIT Guwahati, in collaboration with Ornithologists and a team of Professors from Gauhati University. The design was developed under Bishram Ghar, an NGO based in Guwahati.

Cause for the Community

Locally crafted in Guwahati, our birdhouses support skilled artisans and sustainable livelihoods. Plus, 7.5% of proceeds fund sparrow conservation awareness, helping communities protect these vital birds.
